Mill Valley Dentist Reviews The Process For Crafting Custom Restorations

Written by Dr. McConnell on Oct 5, 2021

Because every one of our dental patients is unique, our Mill Valley restorative dentists take special care to customize treatment plans to meet our respective patients’ needs. Here are some of the ways in which our dental team personalizes dental crowns for exceptional results…

Proportions

We often talk a lot about the aesthetics of dental restorations, but the truth is that the functionality of your crown is just as important, if not more important, than how your restoration looks. Your crown should be similarly sized to your natural teeth, and it should fit in evenly with your smile, so that your bite isn’t thrown out of whack.

Shape

Dental shapes vary widely from patient to patient. Some patients have teeth that are rounded, with soft edges, while other people have teeth that are more pointy or angular. When we create your dental restoration, we’ll look to your natural teeth for inspiration on how to shape your crown.

Color

The final consideration is what color—which shade of white—will allow your crown to blend in with your real teeth. It’s pretty straightforward for our team to color-match your restoration. However, you want to keep in mind that your dental restoration cannot be lightened with topical treatments. If you want to whiten your natural teeth, it’s best to do so before we create and place your crown.

Whether you are replacing aging crowns or treating recent dental damage, our Mill Valley crown dentists can help you achieve your dental goals. Reach out to our dental team to learn more and to schedule a personal consultation!
