Examination
First, you’ll call in and schedule a consultation. We will do a thorough examination of your teeth and discuss your personal oral needs. We will want to determine whether dental implants are right for you, and if so, what kind. The specifics to consider are:
- How many teeth are missing? One? Several? Dental implants can work in either case. If all your teeth are missing, then we may consider a different route, such as dentures.
- Are your teeth healthy? If your remaining teeth are healthy, then you may be a good candidate for dental implants. You will need to have enough healthy bone to hold your new implant.
- What type of dental implant is best for you? We most commonly use an implant that fuses a titanium implant directly to the bone structure in your mouth. We will determine during your exam if this is the best method for you.
What happens next?
Your initial exam will help us to determine if a dental implant procedure is right for you. Then we will schedule an appointment for the implant procedure. You will be welcomed in to our cozy office and made extra comfortable. We will discuss with you your comfort level and use either a local anesthesia or a light sedation so that the procedure is pain-free. We will then carefully anchor the implant to your jawbone.
After this is completed, we will wait a few weeks to allow the gum to heal. You will have a temporary implant during that time. When your new permanent tooth is ready, you will come back to have the crown attached to the implant. Voila! Your smile is just like new!
What Is The Cost?
Costs for dental implants are determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on your specific procedure and how many implants you will require. The cost can be between $1000 to $3000 per implant and tooth.
If you have dental insurance, it may cover your dental implant, or it may not. Contact your dental insurance company and find out what your benefits are and what procedures they cover. If your job offers an FSA (Flexible Spending Account), that can be a great way to pay for your dental implant. There are also payment plans available that cost as little as $100/mo.
